This is a good question with an easy answer: yes. It is able to take novel ideas and draw pictures about them. If humans can be considered as creative, AI can too.
Yeah. I have same mindset. I am reading a book about transferring consciousness into AI. The thing is, the person will still die. Everything the AI would learn and do is just prediction and mimicry. Kinda gross to think about, but I’m sure humans will do it, anyway, inevitably.
Similar concept I feel abt teleportation...After the deconstruction and the reconstruction in another place...is it the same you or a different you? Ship of Theseus... :)
Yup. Teleportation kills you. The other side is a copy. And if the original isn’t disintegrated, then there will be two clones. Maybe a good way to spread throughout the universe quickly. Just create ten trillion clones from one planet, beamed outward.
If you want an example, check out the “peeling the onion” image in one of my recent articles. People don’t talk about k_corona enough for stock art to exist.
Nice way in deconstructing the construct of creativity. Too often, we think of creativity in the realm of art, but ALL work requires creativity. Combinatorial and Exploratory creativity is spot on about Gen AI. But there is also the challenge of "eye of the beholder" – the receiving end of the creativity. Humans make and evaluate simultaneously, while Gen AI doesn't yet have that sense of 'evaluation'. Not sure how that space will evolve, but it would have to emerge at some point.
Yes, I was thinking along that line this morning as well. Plus unpacking the word "original" in the eyes of images and article. Should be enough for another issue in this newsletter. :)
Thanks for the compliment and sharing your thoughts! :)

Yes, so far my conclusion is this, AI and Human can be creative but only Human can be original [Transformational Creativity. :)]

Ack, no photo comments. Wanted to show the cool onion. Haha
