Traveled During Pandemic! :D
Collected a unique experience that only a handful of people have. :)
Hi everyone!
It has been an eventful six months since the last newsletter.
The greatest highlight is I went to Dubai to attend their GITEX x AI Everything 2021 Conference. Let me just describe it as a great eye-opener. I got to see the development of AI in different countries, their startups, and also a chance to see the latest product offering from the bigger companies in the region. It is definitely a great learning experience for me! :)
I am actually very glad that I did a “pandemic” travel before travel opens up. Sounds weird but actually, I am a believer in collecting unique experiences, especially experiences that are not easy to “collect”. So now having traveled during a pandemic, I do have a better appreciation of the processes set up and have empathy in setting up better processes going forward.

Books
A Thousand Brains by Jeff Hawkins: This is a very good follow-up book to Jeff Hawkin’s On Intelligence. Jeff Hawkins actually takes a different approach or should I say non-“deep learning” approach. Check out his company, Numenta, and the work over there as well. The book provided quite a good bit of insights into building Artificial General Intelligence and also some interesting discussion on “Consciousness”.
The Life-Changing Science of Detecting Bullshit: This is a pretty interesting book where they brought out interesting bullshit to share with the reader, plus also share some thoughts on how the bullshit can be countered. There is also some sharing on why bullshit is so difficult to be rid of given some people’s beliefs are so pretty malleable and ready to believe things that suit their taste.
Hope you will find the above-recommended content useful. If you do, please share them with others. Any interaction with the posts such as sharing or dropping me feedback/compliments will help me a lot, keeping me motivated to share more useful content. :)

Till we meet again, stay safe and take care! We are definitely near the end of the pandemic tunnel as many countries start to open up! :)
